Professional Career

1952:   Joined the family business, geobra Brandstätter, and began training as a mould maker
1958: Significant business success with production of hula hoops – becomes market leader in Europe
1969: Construction of a modern production facility on his own 200,000 sq. metre site at Dietenhofen in Franconia, Bavaria
1971: Construction of a production facility in Malta
1974: Market launch of the PLAYMOBIL toy system, which had taken three years to develop
1976: Production tripled, from DM 22 million to approximately DM 100 million
1979: Start-up of a fully automated high rack warehouse at the Dietenhofen production site
1990: Relocation to a new headquarters for administration, development, marketing and sales within Zirndorf – an investment of some DM 50 million
2000: Opening of the PLAYMOBIL Fun Park in Zirndorf and market launch of the LECHUZA brand of planters
2010: Brandstätter Group sales of EUR 559 million exceed the half billion mark for the first time
2012: 60th anniversary of joining the geobra Brandstätter family company
2013/2014: Construction and start-up of the new logistics centre in Herrieden – an investment of some EUR 80 million

1993:   Cross of Merit on ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany
1997: Honorary citizenship of his hometown of Zirndorf
1998: “Manager of the Year” of the German Corporate Consultant Organization (BDU)
2003: Bavarian Order of Merit
2008: Cross of Merit First Class of the Federal Republic of Germany
2013: Honorary citizenship of the municipality of Dietenhofen
2014: Induction into the North American Toy Industry Association Hall of Fame
